About Caffèdex

Caffèdex is a place to keep your own record of the coffees you have tried and what you thought of them. Every review is private by default. Sharing one with the community is a choice you make review by review.

Who is behind it

Caffèdex is an in-house product of DevDroids Ltd, a private limited company registered in England and Wales. DevDroids owns and operates the site from the United Kingdom.

Questions, corrections and complaints all go through the Contact page at /contact. The link is also in the footer.

A journal first, a community second

Each review records the coffee's title and its roaster or café, a category, its origin, the roast level, how it was brewed, a rating out of five, its acidity and body on two sliders, your tasting notes, the date, where you had it, what it cost and, if you like, a photo.

A review can be a draft, private or public. Drafts and private reviews are yours alone. A public review appears on the community reviews page and on its own page, where anyone can read it. You can change the state later by editing the review.

Who can use it

Anyone can read public reviews without an account. To write your own you need a free account, which is available from the age of 13. We ask for a date of birth at sign-up, and giving false information is a breach of the Terms and can lead to the account being closed.

If you believe we hold data about anyone under 13, tell us via /contact and we will delete it.

Keeping the community tidy

We do not check every public review before it appears, but each one carries a Report function. Anyone can use it to flag a review they believe is illegal, breaks the Acceptable Use Policy or is otherwise out of place. Reports are reviewed, and the outcome may be removal, a restriction on the account that posted it, or no action.

How Caffèdex is funded

The site shows third-party adverts served by Google AdSense and its partners, who use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. Visitors in the UK, the EEA and Switzerland are asked for consent by Google's consent message first; without consent you may still see adverts, but they will not be personalised to you. You can change your choice at any time with the cookie button in the footer. You can turn off personalised advertising from Google at any time in Ads Settings (adssettings.google.com), and opt out of some other vendors at www.aboutads.info or www.youronlinechoices.eu.

Voluntary donations (through Stripe) and affiliate links are planned but not live yet. When they arrive they will be clearly labelled, and the privacy policy and terms already explain how they will work.

A note on caffeine

Caffèdex is for personal logging and enjoyment, not advice. Reviews describe a member's own experience of a coffee, and what they say about its strength or effects should not be relied on. Caffeine affects people differently; if you are unsure how much is right for you, the NHS website and your GP are good places to ask.
