Terms & Conditions for Caffèdex

Last updated: 21 June 2026

Welcome to Caffèdex (the "Website" or "Platform"), a product owned and operated by DevDroids Ltd ("DevDroids", "we", "us", or "our"), a private limited company registered in England and Wales.

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of Caffèdex. By accessing or using the Website, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Website.

1. Service Status

Caffèdex is open to the public but is still an early-stage service. Features may change, be added, or be withdrawn without notice; service availability is not guaranteed; and we may pause, reset, or transition the service as it develops. We will notify registered users of material changes to their accounts where reasonably practicable.

2. Eligibility

Anyone may read public reviews on the Website. To register an account you must be at least 13 years of age.

  • Date of birth: your date of birth is collected when you register. We reserve the right to introduce additional eligibility checks at any time, without prior notice.
  • Under-13s: the Website is not intended for children under 13. If we become aware that an account belongs to a user under 13, we will close the account and delete the associated personal data.
  • False information: providing false age, location, or eligibility information is a material breach of these Terms and may result in immediate account suspension or termination and removal of your content.
  • Ongoing declaration: by maintaining a registered account, you continue to warrant that you meet these eligibility requirements.

3. Global Access and Local Compliance

Caffèdex is operated from the United Kingdom but is accessible globally. While we welcome users from around the world, we make no representation that the Website or its content is appropriate, legally permissible, or available for use in all jurisdictions. We reserve the right to restrict access from specific countries or regions at any time.

If you access the Website from outside the UK, you do so on your own initiative and are solely responsible for ensuring your use complies with all applicable local laws, including any laws on online content and consumer reviews in your location.

4. User Accounts

  • Account information: you must provide accurate and complete information at signup and keep it up to date.
  • Account security: you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity occurring under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorised access.
  • One account per person: users may hold only one active account unless we agree otherwise in writing.
  • Suspension and termination by us: we may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you do not meet the eligibility requirements, have provided false information, have breached these Terms, or have used the Website in a way that creates legal, reputational, or operational risk for us.
  • Account closure by you: you can close your account at any time via your account settings. The data consequences of closure are described in our Privacy Policy.

5. Acceptable Use Policy

When using the Website you agree not to:

  • Use the Website in any unlawful manner or for any unlawful purpose.
  • Post or transmit content that is illegal, defamatory, threatening, harassing, hateful, obscene, sexually explicit, or violates the rights of any third party.
  • Post content that promotes or facilitates dangerous behaviour, including unsafe consumption of caffeine products.
  • Impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.
  • Use the Website to send unsolicited commercial communications or spam.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Website, accounts, systems, or networks connected to it.
  • Use automated means (including bots, scrapers, or crawlers) to access, copy, or extract content from the Website, except as expressly permitted by us in writing.
  • Interfere with, disrupt, or impose an unreasonable load on the Website or its infrastructure.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive source code from any part of the Website except to the extent permitted by law.
  • Upload viruses, malware, or any other malicious code.

Breach of this Acceptable Use Policy is a material breach of these Terms and may result in content removal, account suspension or termination, and (where appropriate) referral to law enforcement.

6. User-Generated Content and Reviews

  • What you can post: Caffèdex allows registered users to log, rate, and record their personal opinions on coffees, coffee drinks, roasters, and cafés ("User Content"), subject to the Acceptable Use Policy.
  • Ownership: you retain ownership of your User Content.
  • Licence to us: by posting User Content, you grant DevDroids Ltd a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sub-licensable licence to host, store, reproduce, display, adapt (for formatting purposes), and distribute that content on and through the Website, including in anonymised or aggregated form, for as long as is reasonably necessary to operate the Platform.
  • Survival after account closure: if you close your account, User Content you contributed may be retained in anonymised form to maintain the integrity of the community index, as described in the Privacy Policy.
  • Your warranties: you warrant that your User Content is your own, does not infringe any third-party rights, and complies with these Terms and applicable law.
  • No endorsement: we do not endorse and are not responsible for the accuracy or reliability of opinions posted by users. Any reliance you place on User Content is at your own risk.

7. Reporting Illegal or Inappropriate Content

We provide a reporting mechanism that allows any user to flag User Content they believe is illegal, breaches our Acceptable Use Policy, or is otherwise inappropriate.

  • How to report: use the in-platform "Report" function on the relevant piece of content, or contact us via the Contact Us page (link also available in the footer).
  • What we ask for: a link to or identifier of the content, a brief description of why you believe it should be reviewed, and (for legal-rights complaints such as defamation or IP infringement) sufficient information to identify the complainant and the basis of the complaint.
  • Acknowledgment: we will acknowledge receipt of valid reports without undue delay.
  • Action: we review reports in a timely manner and may remove content, restrict access, suspend the posting user's account, or take no action, depending on our assessment. Where required by law, we will inform the user whose content has been actioned and explain the reasons.
  • While we review: reported content may be hidden from other users until we have reviewed it. Content that is hidden or removed is kept out of view and cannot be edited or deleted by the user who posted it.
  • Decisions and appeals: if we remove a photo you uploaded or suspend your account, we will email you the reason category. You can appeal through the Contact Us page, and a member of our staff will look at it again. A suspension applies to your account, which is the same sign-in on Birradex, Caffèdex and Giftydex.
  • Misuse: repeatedly submitting manifestly unfounded or abusive reports may itself result in account restrictions.

8. Illegal Content and Online Safety Act 2023

DevDroids Ltd takes seriously its duties under the Online Safety Act 2023 in respect of illegal content posted on the Website.

  • Proactive measures: we have implemented systems and processes proportionate to the size and nature of the Website to minimise the risk of illegal content appearing on the Platform, including the Acceptable Use Policy, eligibility requirements, reporting mechanism, moderator review of reported content, an automated check of every uploaded photo (Amazon Rekognition) before it is shown to others, and Cloudflare's scanning of the images we serve for known child sexual abuse material, which is reported to the authorities.
  • Priority offences: we will act expeditiously to remove content we identify as constituting a priority offence under the Online Safety Act 2023, and we will cooperate with law enforcement where appropriate.
  • Hosting nature of the service: Caffèdex functions primarily as a hosting platform. We do not pre-screen written User Content before publication; uploaded photos are checked automatically before they are shown to others, and may be held for review by our staff or rejected. This does not limit our duties to act when content is reported or otherwise comes to our attention.

9. Children's Access

Caffèdex is not designed for, marketed to, or intended for use by children under 13, and accounts are only available from age 13. We will carry out and keep under review a children's access assessment in line with our duties under the Online Safety Act 2023, and we will close any account we identify as belonging to a user under 13.

10. Health and Caffeine Disclaimer

  • Caffèdex is intended for entertainment and personal logging purposes only. Information on the Website should not be treated as medical, dietary, or other professional advice.
  • Caffeine affects people differently. If you are pregnant, have a medical condition, or are unsure how much caffeine is right for you, please seek advice from a healthcare professional (for example, the NHS in the UK at nhs.uk).
  • Any reliance you place on user reviews regarding the strength, taste, allergens, or effects of a coffee or coffee drink is strictly at your own risk.

11. Advertising and Third-Party Links

  • Google AdSense: the Website displays third-party advertisements served by Google AdSense and its partners. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads, including ads based on your visits to this and other websites. In the UK, the EEA and Switzerland, Google's consent message asks for your choice before cookies are used to personalise ads, and you can change it at any time with the cookie button in the footer. How to opt out of personalised advertising is set out in the Privacy Policy. For signed-in users under 18, we only request non-personalised ads.
  • Analytics (planned): we may introduce Google Analytics to understand aggregate usage. It will only run after you consent, as described in the Privacy Policy.
  • Affiliate links: while they are switched on for Caffèdex, public review pages may show a "Find it online" link to an Amazon UK search for the product. It opens through our own redirect (an address starting with /go/), which adds our Amazon Associates tag when you click, so DevDroids Ltd may earn a small commission if you buy something after following it, at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Affiliate links are disclosed next to the link, in the site footer, in these Terms and in the Privacy Policy, consistent with UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) and Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) guidance. Amazon, the shop or an affiliate network may set their own cookies on their websites, under their own policies; we only count clicks, without personal data. An affiliate link is not an endorsement of the retailer, the product or the price.
  • No endorsement: we do not endorse the products or services advertised, and we are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or legality of third-party advertisements or external sites linked from the Website.

12. Voluntary Donations (when available)

  • Not yet available: donations are planned but not offered yet. The rest of this section applies once they are.
  • Voluntary donations: the Website may include a donation feature allowing users to make a voluntary monetary donation to support development. Donations do not entitle the donor to any goods, services, account features, shareholding, or other consideration.
  • Payment processor: donations will be handled entirely by Stripe. DevDroids Ltd will not see, collect, or store card or banking details.
  • Non-refundable: donations are non-refundable except where required by law or where a payment has been made in error and is verifiable as such. Disputed or fraudulent transactions should be raised with your card issuer or Stripe in the first instance.
  • Tax: donations are not gift aid eligible and are not treated as charitable contributions.

13. Intellectual Property

  • Our IP: the Website, including its design, software, trademarks, logos, and content (other than User Content), is owned by or licensed to DevDroids Ltd and is protected by intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Website for personal, non-commercial purposes only.
  • Infringement notices: if you believe content on the Website infringes your intellectual property rights, please contact us via the Contact page with: identification of the protected work, the location of the allegedly infringing content, your contact details, a statement that you have a good-faith belief that use is unauthorised, and a statement that the information provided is accurate. We will review and act on validly substantiated notices.

14. Service Availability and Modifications

  • We aim to keep the Website available but do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or fault-free operation. The Website may be unavailable from time to time due to maintenance, updates, or factors outside our control.
  • We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Website (including features, content, or the Website as a whole) at any time, with or without notice.
  • We will not be liable to you for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Website, save as expressly provided in these Terms or required by law.

15. Termination

  • By you: you may terminate your use of the Website at any time by closing your account via your account settings.
  • By us: we may suspend or terminate your account and access to the Website immediately and without prior notice if you breach these Terms, if we are required to do so by law, or if continued provision of the service to you creates legal, reputational, or operational risk.
  • Effect of termination: on termination, your right to use the Website ends immediately. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature survive termination (including Sections 6 (licence to User Content), 13, 16, 17, 20, and 21) will continue in force.

16. Limitation of Liability

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded under English law. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.

Subject to the above, and to the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, loss of goodwill, loss of data, or loss of opportunity.
  • We are not liable for personal injury, illness, or health issues arising from the consumption of coffee, caffeine, or any food or drink, whether or not related to information on the Website.
  • We are not liable for inaccuracies in User Content or third-party advertisements.
  • Our total aggregate liability to you in respect of all claims arising out of or in connection with these Terms or your use of the Website shall not exceed £100, or the total amount you have paid to DevDroids Ltd in the 12 months prior to the event giving rise to the claim (excluding voluntary donations), whichever is greater.

17. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless DevDroids Ltd, its directors, employees, contractors, and agents from and against any claims, losses, damages, liabilities, and reasonable legal costs arising out of:

  • your breach of these Terms,
  • your User Content,
  • your violation of any applicable law, or
  • your infringement of any third-party rights.

This clause does not apply to the extent any such liability is caused by our own breach or negligence.

18. Force Majeure

We will not be liable for any failure or delay in performance under these Terms to the extent caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including acts of God, war, terrorism, civil unrest, pandemic, government action, large-scale internet or telecommunications failure, prolonged power outages, or failure of essential third-party infrastructure.

19. Changes to These Terms

We may modify these Terms from time to time. We will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and, for material changes, will provide a more prominent notice (such as a banner on the Website or an email to registered users). Continued use of the Website after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

20. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, save that consumers may have additional rights to bring claims in their country of residence under applicable law.

21. General Provisions

  • Entire agreement: these Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any policies referenced within them, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding use of the Website.
  • Severability: if any provision is held invalid or unenforceable, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions continue in full force.
  • Waiver: no failure or delay by us in exercising any right operates as a waiver of that right.
  • Assignment: you may not assign or transfer your rights under these Terms. We may assign our rights to a successor entity in the event of a corporate restructure, merger, or sale of substantially all of our business.
  • No partnership: nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, joint venture, employment, or agency relationship.
  • Third-party rights: a person who is not a party to these Terms has no rights under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 to enforce any term.
  • Notices: formal notices to us should be sent via the Contact Us page. We may give notices to you by email to the address registered to your account or by posting on the Website.

22. Contact Us

If you have any questions about these Terms, or if you need to report inappropriate User Content, please contact DevDroids Ltd via the Contact Us page (link also available in the footer).
